i celebrated a second basant panchami in my home this year. Not as big an affair as last time but a nice affair nevertheless. i sang Kabir this time- both as khayal and as bhajan. For khayal it was the Todi bandish i have composed...So mere ram, kabai ghar aawae and then there was a khyal in raga madhmad sarang- hari heera...followed by drut bandish- jo saancha so kewal ram. thereafter i sang a few kabir bhajans.
ramesh-ji who is here in the picture with mishraji on the tabla also sang some very powerful songs, packed with revolutionary fervour and a very deep content. Oh yes! Pampa also sang some film songs.
The food was home-made this time and turned out to be good. Bhim sent someone to help around. SO we had chana, seetaphal, alu as three vegetables and curd with puries and halwa. Not bad, isn't it?
in the top foto there is mehul, my childhood friend Madhu's son, with ginger. They have quite lost their hesitation and fear with these dogs. I am happy about that. At least they have a new option to look at dogs now. The others in the frame are his elder sister-Merul, Madhu herself and Ramesh-da enjoying his evening tea.
